nourish + restore this winter with restorative, yin, and myofascial practices

february 2, 9, 16 // 6pm pacific time - 9pm eastern
three 45-min {restorative yin} practices:

A gentle supported class with seasonal attunement from the 5 Element perspective. Includes medical Qi Gong to clear and center the energy (like a moving meditation), Yin shapes to strengthen connective tissues (with some mindfulness and breath work), and restorative poses to regulate and settle the nervous system, encouraging a deeper state of relaxation.
Encouraged props: 2 blocks, 1 strap, 1 blanket, 1 bolster
(household items can substitute for these props)

march 2, 9, 16 // 5:30 pacific time - 8:30pm eastern
three 60-min {myo-yin} practices:

This class brings together two healing and strengthening modalities for the connective tissues in the body - the first half of the session is a self massage with therapy balls that brings about an increase of hydration for the whole of the fascial system. Primary benefits include chronic pain relief, increased mobility, injury prevention, and stress reduction. The second half will offer traditional Yin shapes geared towards the health of the fascia, ligaments, tendons, and joints. Both sides of this practice support a sense of grounding and nervous system down-regulation with 5 Element meridian theory woven throughout.

your guide // rae helsel

For nearly 15 years, Rae has immersed herself in the restorative arts of yoga, specializing in the nuanced realms of mindful restorative yin. In her classes and training sessions, she seamlessly integrates a profound understanding of nervous system regulation, medical qi gong, and neuroscience.

Rae's journey into the world of yoga and meditation unfolded against the backdrop of a cancer diagnosis and subsequent treatments during her college years. It was in this life challenge that she discovered the profound healing capacities within this practice. From this experience, Rae has cultivated a unique approach, one that not only heals but also restores and empowers the intricate tapestry of the mind, body, and spirit.

She teaches from a place of deep study, having trained under the tutelage of luminaries such as Judith Lasater, Jillian Pransky, Bernie Clark, Sarah Powers, Rod Stryker, Tara Brach, and Mimi Kuo Deemer. Her mission is to bring relaxation to an over-worked and under-rested culture.
